Obituary

Gary L. Coppage Jr., 57, of Camden Wyoming, DE, passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2025.

Born on January 25, 1968, in Elkton, MD, at Union Hospital, Gary was the beloved son of Lola Dalton and Gary L. Coppage Sr. He grew up in Dover, DE, and attended Dover High School. He spent the majority of his years as a resident of Hartly, DE. As a child, Gary found joy in learning to play the guitar—-a passion that would follow him all his life. He loved music, especially heavy metal, and was known for his unique sense of style, including his unforgettable hair.

Though he began his studies to become a CNA, Gary found his true calling in carpentry, where he worked for most of his life. In addition to his skills with wood and tools, Gary had a gift for making people laugh. He delighted in sharing funny memes and videos with his friends and family and had a natural ability to brighten any room with his humor and warmth.

In his younger years, Gary liked playing basketball with the neighborhood kids and cheering for the Eagles during his days as a devoted fan. But his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a father. He often said his children were his life's biggest achievement.

A man of evolving faith, Gary was a long-time member of Solid Rock Church and later became a Jehovah's Witness shortly before his passing

Gary is survived by his three children: Gabriel Coppage, Kathleen Coppage, and Samuel Coppage; his aunts, Bonnie Osgood and Martha Lawrence; his uncle, Roby Coppage; and his dear friend, John. He also leaves behind his beloved grand-dog, Theo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lola Dalton and Gary Coppage Sr., as well as his siblings, John and Michelle Coppage, who passed shortly after birth.

A celebration of Gary's life will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward funeral arrangements.

Gary will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his music, his laughter, and his love.
