Obituary

Ethel Marie Schaffer Scott, of Dover Delaware, passed away on Monday the 12th of February 2024. She was 91 years old (12 days shy of 92).

She was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on February 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry Rummel Schaffer and Freda Huber. The sixth of seven children, she graduated from Frankford High School in 1950 and was employed as a secretary at Rohm and Haas Company, and later at the IRS in Philadelphia.

She formerly resided in Philadelphia PA., Cinnaminson NJ, Jim Thorpe PA, and most recently, Dover DE.

Ethel had varied interests, including bible study, travel, politics, and investing. She was a member of The Daughters of the Nile and was active in the LuLu temple with her husband "Scotty".

She is survived by daughters, Amy and husband Paul Lippincott, and Carole and husband Clarence DeBolt; grandchildren, Melissa and husband James LaCour (NJ), Jodi and husband Gilbert Hendry (Mass), Kim Lippincott and wife Claire Hendry (MD), and Robert S. Debolt (NJ); great-grandchildren, Emma and Brayden LaCour, Ian, Asher and Simon Hendry.

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard T. Scott; and her siblings, Ruth, Grace, Harry, Gilbert, George, and William.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday May 11th at Christ Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe, PA, with a visitation at 10:30 AM.

Luncheon will be served afterward at the church.

Interment will be held at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township, Burlington County, NJ.
