Obituary

Emma Marion Kocenko, 89, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on July 31st at Westminster Village of Dover, DE after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in the Elizabeth, NJ on September 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Max Melzer and Stefanie "Stella" Barauskas. Emma had been a fulltime resident of Naples since 1993 and volunteered for the Naples Visitor Center and the American Red Cross. She married Gregory "The Bad Boy" Victor Kocenko on March 21, 1946. Emma was a loving wife, wonderful mother, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and caring friend to all she knew. She is survived by her sons, Alan and Robert Kocenko; grandchildren, Marcie Bothell and Jason, Matthew and Lynsey Kocenko; and several fabulous great-grandchildren. Emma was a vivacious woman with a joy for life, had a favorite word, loved 5 o'clock wine and nuts, loved spaghetti and meatballs, disliked Barack Obama but loved Bill O'Reilly, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossed word puzzles, playing cards, and soap operas. Emma will be laid to rest with matching blue blazers with her husband in Naples. At Emma's request there will be a small service in Naples. No flowers or sadness please, only prayers and fond memories celebrating her life and the lives of the many she touched. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
