Elwood "Dusty"
James Marker
May 24, 1952 – August 11, 2022
Elwood James "Dusty" Marker, 70, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday August 11, 2022, at Bayhealth Hospital, Dover.
He was born in Camden-Wyoming, DE on May 24, 1952, to the late Douglas Marker and Charlotte Krantzer.
Elwood enjoyed playing football in his younger years and honorably served in the United States Army. He loved doing maintenance work. He worked his way up to manager. His favorite job was at Westminster Village, Dover, where he fell in love with not only his job but the residents. He loved his residents at Westminster Village so much, he got married there to Sharon Marker 20 years ago so his residents could attend.
Elwood most enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved cars - especially Monte Carlos. He loved all his animals but mostly, his yorkies. Elwood found relaxing pleasure in cutting grass although he would accidently end up in the front yard ditch at times.
He always enjoyed his fruit trees outside and couldn't wait to consume all of it. He enjoyed at least 20 popsicles a day and ignored his wife when she said "do not eat anymore!" Elwood always had a hidden stash of candy in his truck so he wouldn't get in trouble eating his favorite sweets.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Marker; children, Jody Hill, Timothy Marker; step-children, Kevin Anderson, Kristina Ande, Kathleen Ande; grandchildren, Ashley Hill, Amanda Hill, Gabriel Ande, Damien Anderson, Finley (Quinley) Griffin, and a baby boy coming in November; great-grandchildren, Trinity Houser, McKenzie Clark, and a baby on the way; many great friends, his pets, Mydnight, Daisy, 25 finches, 2 bearded dragons, and 1 Gecko.
Services will be held 12 PM Monday August 22 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE, with a visitation beginning at 11 AM. Burial will be at 2 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE.
