Obituary

Edward Anthony Hohman Jr. died on Monday October 19, 2015 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 79. Mr. Hohman was born February 20, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Edward A. Hohman Sr. and Julia Callis. He served in the US Army during the Korea Conflict and then served in the US Army Reserve. He was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Smyrna, and a charter member and a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the Citizens' Hose Company and the American Legion Ambulance of Smyrna. He was a chairman of the Smyrna-Clayton Fourth of July Assoc. and was instrumental in starting the lawn mower races at the Fourth of July activities. He was also a member of the FOP #3 in Dover, DE. He and his wife, Alice Hohman, were members of the 14th/28th district for the Democratic Club. Along with his father, he was a truck driver for twenty-five years and then went on to retire from the State of Delaware Department of Corrections after twenty-two years. Along with his wife, he started H&W Chimney Sweeps. He also portrayed Santa Claus for St. Polycarp Church, Citizens' Hose Co., and AI DuPont Hospital. He also loved to snowmobile and travel with his wife around the U.S. He liked going out on his boat and was an avid Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Alice Hohman; one son, Michael Hohman (Misty); two daughters, Alice M. Mehaffey (James), and Bonnie R. Steele (Kenneth); grandchildren Abi and Jared Hohman, Catherine Simon (Joseph), and Victoria Steele; and great-grandchildren Callie and Liam Keen, and Riley Steele. He is also survived by a sister, Kathy Corbeil (Tom); nephews, Larry Corbeil (Krista), their children, Reily Corbeil, McKenna Corbeil, Sean Corbeil, Madison Wahlsten and Alison Wahlsten; a niece Tina Page (Danny), their children Ben Page and Julie Page; and great niece Kinslee Page; and niece Tammy Jones (Craig), their children, Kymber Lyn and Nathan Jones. Friends may call from 6-8:00 PM Friday October 23 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday October 24 at St. Polycarp Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Citizens' Hose Co., P.O.
