Edward Matthew
Ellers
October 30, 1968 – March 13, 2024
Edward Ellers gained his wings on March, 13, 2024 surrounded by family.
We start by saying Eddie was the best cookie maker. It was something he was passionate about. Amongst other things he enjoyed ceramics, fishing, and spending time with his family.
We mustn't leave out his beloved bingo. The highlight of his week was to go to the Lillian Smith Senior Center where the ladies treated him like royalty.
Eddie was a graduate of Smyrna High School. He lived in Smyrna as a child and Clayton as an adult, until 5 years ago when he went to live with his sister in Dover.
Eddie was the 8th of 9 children. He loved and was loved by all his siblings.
He leaves behind two sisters, Susan Anthony and Ginny Clendaniel (John) and five brothers, John Anthony, Pat Anthony (Patsey) of Huntingdon Tenn., Bobby Anthony (Sandy Massie), Irvin Ellers, and David Ellers; two half-brothers, Buck Ellers and Roy Ellers (Margo). He was predeceased by one sister Elizabeth Ellers.
He also leaves behind too many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews to count and loved playing video games with them but all equally loved by him.
He was quiet, spoke when he was spoken to. He was also serious and didn't like a lot of foolishness. But if you needed him, he was there. He loved to eat. It was said if he wasn't eating, he was getting ready to eat. He loved growing vegetables and flowers; taking after his mother Vera Anthony (who was preceded in his death).
Eddie took the best care of his mother in her final years of life. He was our hero when it came to taking care of her.
He will be deeply missed by all that were lucky enough to have known him.
During his time with us, he made a point to always help anyone with whatever he could, never second guessing his decision. Anyone who knows Eddie, knows that his family meant everything to him in his eyes, each of you reading this was family or you wouldn't be here. For us, he really was the pebble thrown into the lake as the lives he touched act as the ripples that extend far beyond just us.
Services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday March 19 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, with a visitation from 3 PM until the time of services. Interment will be private.
