Duncan Earle Laurie, a resident of Clearwater Florida, passed away on February 14th, 2026 from complications of a long illness. Duncan served the U.S. postal service in the Ft. Lauderdale Florida area for more than 30 years. He was the son of Geneva P. Laurie, a native of Smyrna Delaware who died in 2015.
Duncan was born and raised in Worcester Massachusetts and attended Springfield College in Springfield, where he was known for his passion for American history and his love of basketball.
While Duncan made his home in Florida, Duncan enjoyed summer escapes in rural Maine, an area he knew well from his childhood.
In Florida, he was known for a variety of church activities. Working in Lake Placid, Duncan could be found on many Thanksgiving Days volunteering to serve holiday turkey to less fortunate residents.
As a man committed to faith, some of his fondest memories lay in his travel to Jerusalem and the Holy Land in 2018.
A memorial for Duncan will be held at 11 am June 8th with his interment at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, in the family resting place next to his mother and father, Andrew Louis Laurie, MD. Duncan is survived by many friends in Florida and by his brother James.
