Obituary

David C. Pleasanton, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on December 16, 2016. He was 71.

He was born in Dover, DE on February 12, 1945, the son of the late William & Elizabeth Pleasanton.

Mr. Pleasanton was a graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna, DE, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War who attained the rank of Specialist E5.

He was employed as an electrician at Chrysler Corp., Newark DE, retiring after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed working on his historic home, vacationing, and writing political commentary for the paper.

He is survived by his spouse, Bunny Pleasanton (married December 14, 1979), of Smyrna; a daughter, Sharon Niner (spouse Doug Niner), of Smyrna, DE; a sister, Donna Fell, of Port St. Lucie, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; his cats, Coco, Cleo, and Indy; and a grand-cat named J.J.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd, William, and Leonard Pleasanton.

Memorial services will be held 5:30 PM Friday December 23 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 4:30 PM. Pastor Dale Brown will officiate.

After the service, friends are invited to join the family at a reception from 6-8:00 PM on Friday December 23 at the Fellowship Hall of Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon Street, Smyrna, DE.
