David Wayne
Morris
September 5, 1960 – November 9, 2025
David Wayne Morris, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Sunday November 9, 2025, after a short illness. He was 65.
He was born in Dover, DE on September 5, 1960, the son of the late Donald and Virginia Morris.
David had fond memories of riding dirt bikes and climbing water towers in his youth. He graduated from Smyrna High School in 1978, and played Varsity football and baseball. He attended some college at University of Delaware.
He was employed in various retail and construction jobs, had short terms at Amazon and the Smyrna School District, and a long-term career and passion as a mortgage loan officer.
David was a Philadelphia sports fanatic. He loved everything about the Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers and was always prepared to share a fun fact about them. He enjoyed watching movies and reading, golf, traveling in his younger years, and being with friends and family.
His proudest achievement was being a father and grandfather. He loved to share his wisdom and detailed stories for any occasion, and he created unique nicknames for those he loved.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Jeanne Morris, of Smyrna DE; children, Cara Boyles (Matt Boyles), Smyrna, DE, and Eric Morris (Taylor Kiss), Boston, MA; grandchildren, Cullen Boyles and Finn Boyles; a sister, Cheryl Passwaters; a brother, Greg (Shirley) Morris; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear friends, Donald "Luke" and Kandy Lucas.
He was predeceased by Dawson, their beloved family dog.
