Darlene Faye Griffin, of Newark, and formerly of Smyrna, passed away peacefully at her home on December 25, 2017. She was 70.

She was born in Wilmington, DE on September 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Violet and J. Walter Jones.

She was a graduate of Conrad High School, Wilmington, and had formerly resided in New Castle, Elsmere, and Clayton. She retired from Kent General Hospital, Dover, as an office manager.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and making everyone happy. Darlene was known for her great sense of humor, and could put anyone in a better mood. Her favorite quotes were "HEYY BILL!!!" and "I will slap you bald headed".

She was preceded in death by a son, William J. Griffin II, and her sisters, Clara Mae Pearce, and Shirley A. Barker.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Griffin; a daughter, Michele R. Moore; grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Griffin, Richard J Moore III, and Brittany R Moore; great-grandchildren, McKenzie R. Moore, and Finley H. Griffin; and her pets LO and Sammy.

Services will be held 12 PM Saturday December 30 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
