Curtis Clarence Pompper, Jr., 56, of Smyrna, DE, passed away Friday July 1, 2016 at Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital Dover, DE of Metastatic Melanoma.
He was born December 9, 1959 in Salem, New Jersey to Marjorie Nichols and Curtis Clarence Pompper, Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his Wife Barbara of Smyrna, DE; his Step-children Bobbi Jo Webber (Matthew) of Clayton, DE; and William R. Wilson, IV. of Smyrna, DE; his Grandchildren Nathan and Natalie Webber of Clayton, DE; his Mother Marjorie Pompper, of New Castle, DE; his Sister Barbara Cote' (Eugene), of North East MD; his Niece, Lisa Cote' of North East, MD; and several other Relatives.
He was predeceased by his Father, Curtis Clarence Pompper, Sr. in 2012 and several aunts and uncles.
Curtis Studied Auto Body at Delcastle Technical High School, where he graduated.
Curtis was employed by Wayman Fire Protection, INC. for 18 years. Part of this time was spent as a Sub Contractor for Dupont, Chestnut Run. He also worked for Christiana Hospital for 10 years In Life Safety. Prior to this he was employed by Professional Ambulance Service, a body shop, and a drive-in movie theater.
Curtis was a Life Member of Christiana Volunteer Fire Company where he held many offices and was on numerous committees. He was also a member of Five Points Volunteer Fire Company where he was on numerous committees. He was a member of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association, The New Castle County Firemen's Association, The New Castle County and Delaware State Ambulance Association, The First State F.O.O.L.S., and The Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was also an American Red Cross Disaster Volunteer.
Curtis enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie whom he loved dearly and made him the happiest, going to Parades, Firemen's Musters, and Craft Shows.
His Viewing will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM with Services immediately following the Viewing from 7:30 - 8:00 PM. Viewing and Services will be held at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna, DE, 19977. Burial will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2016, at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 420 S. DuPont Blvd., Smyrna, DE 19977.
In Lieu of flowers Donations can be sent First State Animal Center and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
