Clara Mae Pearce, of Clayton, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016 at home. She was 75.

She was born in Salisbury, MD on December 3, 1940, the daughter of the late Jay Walter and Violet Taylor Jones. She was a 1958 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School, Wilmington.

Mrs. Pearce was employed as a secretary for many years, and retired in 2002 from Service Energy (formerly Paradee Oil), Dover.

She enjoyed travelling, cooking, camping, shopping on QVC, and collecting Thomas Kinkade angels. She also enjoyed the company of her two Chihuahuas, Joy and Happy. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and her family. She was also a proud 13-year survivor of breast cancer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Ann Jones, and a nephew, B.J. Griffin.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William R. Pearce; a daughter, Tracy Pearce; a sister, Darlene (Bill) Griffin; a granddaughter, Tiffany (Chris) Hamm; three great-grandchildren, Adam, CJ, and Bennett Hamm; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday January 29 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at Noon. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
