Charles William Scharnagle Jr., of Smyrna, DE, passed away on November 16, 2021. He was 86.

He was born in Baltimore, MD on February 1, 1935 to the late Charles and Merrill Scharnagle.

He was a graduate of the University of Baltimore and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by the State of Maryland.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Elizabeth Scharnagle; children, Linda Yates, and Charles William Scharnagle III; five grandchildren; and a sister, Merrill Brophy.

A visitation will be held 9:30 – 11:30 AM Friday November 26 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, with a brief service at the end of the visitation. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of your choice.
