Obituary

Charles Edmund Nabb, 84, a resident of Clayton, DE for 45 years, passed away on December 30, 2016 in Montgomery Co., PA.

He was born in Blackbird, DE on January 25, 1932, the son of the late George Norman and Irene Elizabeth (Slaughter) Nabb.

He served in US Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Delaware State Police after 20 years of service. Mr. Nabb was the first helicopter pilot for the Delaware State Police and helped create the Aviation Unit.

He later served as the Delaware Emergency Medical Service Director for 22 years and helped create the Medic Program. In addition, he volunteered as a Smyrna Pop Warner Football Coach.

He enjoyed raising championship beagles, fishing, and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Doris Ector.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice Marie Nabb (M: 6/19/69); children, Mike Nabb and wife Joyce; Terri Allen; Steven Miller; Teresa Golden and husband Chad; Charles Nabb Jr.; John Nabb and wife Vicki; grandchildren, Brian Nabb; Holly Walker; Jennifer Dunlap and husband Dennis; Glenn Johnson; Joe Nabb and wife Autumn; Jacob Golden and wife Angie; Wes Mehalshick; David Mehalshick; John James Nabb II; Hayley Mehalshick; Kim Horn; and Christina Molnar; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Nabb.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Friday January 6, at Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 1:00 PM.

Interment will be 10:00 AM Wednesday January 11 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Delaware State Police Museum, PO Box 430, Dover, DE 19903; or to Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
