Charles Lee Allison, 90, of Smyrna, Delaware, died Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus in Dover, Delaware. Lee, as he was known by his family, was born on August 4, 1935, in Alliance, Ohio, to Lawrence Frederick "Red" and Margaret A. (Keller) Allison.
Lee enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955. His career developed around aircraft maintenance in the role of Instrument Technician; where he worked on a variety of aircraft including the B-47, C-141 Starlifter and C-5 Galaxy. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1975, Lee entered the private sector, once again working as an Instrument Technician at The Scott Paper Company manufacturing plant in Dover, Delaware. In 1996, he fully retired from working. When not working, he enjoyed being with his family, growing vegetables in his garden and maintaining the landscaping around the home. He was a member of Saint Polycarp Church in Smyrna.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maryann Eleanor (Mackowski) Allison, of Smyrna, sons Jeffrey Charles Allison and Steven Mark Allison, both of Smyrna, daughter Denise Marie Landon, of Greenwood, Delaware, grandchildren Joshua (Kassandra) Allison of Perry, Georgia, Claire Landon, of Cockeysville, Maryland, Amber Landon, of Milford, Delaware and Amanda Allison, of Smyrna, Delaware and brother Donald Allison, of Alliance, Ohio. Lee was predeceased by his parents and brothers Robert Allison, of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Richard Allison, of Alliance, Ohio.
The Family has requested private funeral services for the immediate family at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna. Burial at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware, will be private.
