Obituary

Betty J. Gardner, of Hartly, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Friday July 10, 2015. She was 73. She was born in MD, the daughter of the late Corbett and Marybelle Napier. Betty had formerly been a waitress, and had also worked as a lunch-aide at Smyrna Elementary School for many years. The job she most loved was caring for her family. She loved writing poetry, going to the beaches, bonfires, and family get-togethers. She will be remembered for her ability to make people laugh, and for her love of practical jokes and having a good time. Betty was a member of Ewell's-St. Paul UM Church, Clayton. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David Gardner; a son, Christopher Gardner; three daughters, Deborah Myers; Diana Myers; and Darlene Myers; two sisters, Helen Strutz; and Brenda Cadarette; a brother, Michael Napier; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-children, David Gardner Jr., and Lisa Sartin. Services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday July 15 at Ewell's-St. Paul United Methodist Church, 401 West St, Clayton, where friends may call at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.
