Obituary

Betty E. Bullock, 84, Blackbird, Delaware, passed November 6, 2023. She was born January 25, 1939, in Blackbird, daughter of Edward F. and Amy E. Burris.  Betty grew up in Blackbird and graduated from Middletown High School in 1957. She married William (Bill) Bullock on June 22, 1960. They were married 57 years. Bill passed away on March 7, 2018.

She is survived by her daughter, Audrey M. Erschen, and son, William (Billy) Bullock (Rhonda), and her grandchildren, Jacob Erschen, Angelic Rideout, and Cameron Bullock.

After marrying Bill, she moved to California while he served in the Navy. Upon her return to Delaware, she worked throughout her life as a secretary, bookkeeper, home daycare owner, bank teller, and office manager. She retired from the ConAgra Mill in Townsend.  Most recently, she was a House of Representatives Page.  She was active in the Blackbird Community Center. She was a Cub Scout Leader, a 4-H Leader, and a mentor to many.

Betty's hobbies were flower gardening, crafts, camping, and traveling. She was an avid Phillies fan, loved visiting Longwood Gardens and going for drives in the country. She traveled throughout the United States, and toured Europe. She loved her family and was always willing to help neighbors and friends.

Friends may visit 6-8 PM Thursday November 16, 2023, at Matthews–Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna, Delaware. Friends may also visit 10-11 AM Friday November 17 with funeral services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa.
