Obituary

Annabelle Carney, of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday September 11, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 82. She was born in Townsend, the daughter of the late Howard and Josephine Carter. Mrs. Carney was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, cooking, and travelling and sight-seeing. Most of all, she loved taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leroy B. Carney Sr.; four brothers, James Edward Mosley; Howard Carter; Carlton Carter; and William Carter; and her step-father, Carlton Durham. She is survived by three children, Leroy Carney Jr., of Camden; Angela Carney, of Baltimore; and Victoria Carney, of Camden; a sister, Maude Mae Seeney, of Dover; a grandson, Leroy Carney III, of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday September 16 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Immanuel Union Cemetery, Cheswold. If desired, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
