Carney
November 2, 1949 – April 4, 2025
Angela Elvira Carney, 75
Dover – Angela Elvira Carney passed away Friday on April 4th, 2025 at her home in Dover, Delaware.
Family called her Angel and friends and associates knew her as Angie, was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1949, in Dover, Delaware at home to LeRoy and Annabelle Carney. She graduated from Dover High School class of 1968. Her first job was selling furniture at WT Grants in Rodney Village. She went on to work for JC Pennys as a Fine Jewelry Specialist and soon after became manager of the department. In the mid 70's she moved to Denver Colorado and became the assistant manager of the entire store having over 100 people working under her, she moved around to different locations to better her position and eventually became the Manager of the entire store. Her job took her to many different store locations and events which she loved, including setting up store promotions where all the employees wore tuxes and included a Elvis impersonator. In 1992 her position gave her an opportunity to participate in a contest in which she won. The prize was an all-expense paid trip for two to the Olympics in Barcelona, Spain which she truly enjoyed. Her travels included California, Texas and also a hot air balloon festival in Mexico as well as a trip to Florida with her friends and their children. She went on to continue to travel a lot including a cruise to the Bahamas and around the boot of Italy.
Angel loved traveling and had a great unique sense of humor. While in Denver she learned to ski and white-water raft and loved the Denver Broncos. She enjoyed attending concerts at the Red Rock Amphitheater and spending time with her loved ones. Angel loved children and often babysat for her friend's little girl Page and another friend's son David and loved both very much. She was a cancer survivor twice. She was a very independent woman and loved challenges as well as her dog Kiki and Tobi.
She loved her time in Colorado and Baltimore and the relationships from that time. Thank you to everyone that loved our Angel and made her time memorable. The family will always be grateful for taking care of her while she was away from home.
She was preceded in death by her parents the late LeRoy and Annabelle Carney as well as her brother Leroy Carney Junior.
She is survived by her sister Victoria D. Carney of Dover, Delaware and her nephew Leroy Carney III of Florida as well as her Aunt Betty Seeney and Gloria Attix and many cousins.
Angel held a special place in her heart for her friends Diana, Tish and Milena from Colorado and Laurie and John and their children from Maryland.
