Ameila M. Wicks, of Dover Place, Dover passed away at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, on Thursday March 23, 2017. She was 88.
She was born in Scranton, PA on November 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Emile and Anna Maiese. She resided in Smyrna and Dover for many years.
Her first marriage was to John A. Zambrotta on August 22, 1948 at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, Ridgewood, NY. Her second marriage was to George H. Wicks Jr. on November 2, 1983 at St. Polycarp Church, Smyrna, DE.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also loved to read, watch old movies, and listen to Frank Sinatra.
She was an active member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at St. Polycarp Church for many years.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John Zambrotta in 1981; her second husband, George H. Wicks Jr. in 2009; a brother, Anthony Maiese; and sisters, Louise Lamberta and Grace Avelli.
She is survived by two daughters, Marie Steckman (Jack) of Lewes DE; and Susan Sammons (Ray) of Smyrna DE; six grandchildren, Melanie Lowman (Bruce) of Smyrna; Danielle Wilczynski (Mike) of Felton; Jaime Bald (Eric) of Perkasie, PA; and Ray Sammons IV of San Diego, Ca.; Brett Dabruzzo (Nick), of MD; Chad Steckman, of MD; six great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; Madeline Newman, of TN; Robert Wicks (Mary), of Smyrna; George Wicks III (Deb), of Smyrna; John Wicks (Deb) of FL; Jim Wicks (June) of Smyrna; 13 Step Grand Children; and 22 Step Great Children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 12:00 PM Tuesday March 28 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:00 AM in the adjoining parish hall. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
A reception will follow at the DE State Troopers Assoc. Building, 6349 N Dupont Hwy., Cheswold, DE 19936.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Polycarp Church, 55 Ransom Lane, Smyrna DE 19977, or Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
