Obituary

Adolf von Weissenfluh passed away on Oct. 28, 2017. Adolf was born in Ober-Schaftelen, Bern,Switzerland on May 26, 1919. He graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Pa. He attended refrigeration school in Chicago. Adolf was married to Gertrude Anna Weissenfluh-Zollinger in 1951; they were married for 66 years. Adolf worked as a maintenance man for the Ford Motor Company for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and model railroading. He was actively involve with the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years. He is survived by his lovely wife, Gertude; his son, Robert Weissenfluh and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Robert and his wife Amber, Eric and his wife Rachel their son Connor, Adolf's great grand son, Alex and his wife Valentina, Amber Evans and Logan Weissenfluh, and many friends. Adolf was preceded in death by his parents, Melchior von Weissenfluh and Marie Weissenfluh-Jaggi; sisters, Erika Weissenfluh, Frieda Weissenfluh, and Marie Weissenfluh Weber. Adolf volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army in 1941. He was injured in the invasion of Sicily in 1943, returning home via medical transport. To honor his time in service a patriotic celebration of life will be held on Nov. 6, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Peoples Church of Christ. Reverend Ellen Witko will be officiating. Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
